Netflix offer first look at Young Lady Danbury in ‘Bridgerton’ prequel ‘Queen Charlotte’

Bridgerton fans have been given their first glimpse of a Young Lady Danbury from the first image provided of the prequel, Queen Charlotte.

Showrunner Shonda Rhimes previously promised an eight-season run for the hit Netflix programme. However, Queen Charlotte is an expansion of the universe that Rhimes has built and is a separate entity from the rest of her vision. Currently, no release date has been released for the eight-part series, which is expected to arrive this year.

The synopsis for the series reads: “Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”

For the programme, Line Of Duty star India Amarteifio is tasked with playing the Queen as she attempts to cope with her marriage to King George. Connie Jenkins-Grieg appears as Lady Violet Bridgerton, and the Young Lady Danbury will be Arsema Thomas. Although Adjoa Andoh will still appear in the series as the older version of the character.

Previously speaking to Variety, Netflix boss Peter Friedlander said: “When you meet Queen Charlotte inside the Bridgerton universe, you can’t help but want to know more about that character and her background. So it felt like a natural exploration to go into her background.”

Friedlander continued: “It truly is stunning, and so I am glad that you are excited about it. It’s a justified enthusiasm because it is going to live up to your expectations.”
