Netflix confirms the fifth season of 'You' will be the last

After wrapping up its fourth season on March 4th, Netflix have announced that the next season of You is going to be the final season. The announcement also confirms that Penn Badgley is going to be returning as Joe Goldberg, and the series will arrive in 2024.

Netflix recently tweeted a teaser of the next season, telling fans to brace themselves for the last chapter of the show. The series originally began in 2018 following Goldberg as a murderous sociopath. Towards the end of the last season, Goldberg had put his past behind him and lived undercover as a teacher in London, only for his past to catch up with him.

Badgley had praised the last season of You, telling British GQ that it was about “building towards seeing Joe in a different light”.

When asked about the ending of the show, Badgley also added that he wanted something big for the show’s finale, speaking to creator Greg Berlanti about the upcoming fifth season saying, “If there’s another one, it’s going to be, I think, a grand finale”.

Fans have also been speculating what the fate of Goldberg will be, wondering whether he will die or get served justice for his crimes. The final season will be available to stream on Netflix in 2024.
