Netflix announces new Christmas schedule

With the festive season (somehow) already fast approaching, Netflix has announced a bumper list of films set to be gift-wrapped and delivered onto the streaming service before Christmas Day.

With Halloween scares currently dominating, the softer side of Christmas will slide into place on November 1, with The Claus Movie. The touching family film sees an ageing grandfather try to save Christmas and restore his granddaughter’s love for the holiday season while he’s at it.

Then a week later, Elizabeth Hurley joins comedy legends Kelsey Grammer and John Cleese in the cast for Father Christmas is Back. The British Comedy movie filmed in York last year is set to be a romp that will add a chuckle to many stockings this season.

Elsewhere, for the little ones, there’s a Shaun The Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas special to look forward to. Everyone’s favourite woolly wally will be live from December 3 for adults around the world to pretend they’re not enjoying.

What’s more, there’ll even be a Great British Baking Show special to tuck into. The slightly rebranded name will still see the old favourites appear, with Matt Lucas, Noel Fielding, Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood signed on.

In total, 23 releases have been scheduled as part of the Christmas program, with other notables including Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk running a prize show and Vanessa Hudgens starring in The Princess Switch 3. Check back and we’ll give you a run-down on the best titles to unwrap in the coming weeks.
