Netflix announces 'Bridgerton' season three release date

Fans of Bridgerton will be excited to discover that Netflix has announced the release date for the highly-anticipated third season of the hit show.

Bridgerton’s eight-episode third season will air in two parts, with the first instalment coming on May 16th 2024, and the second on June 13th. The show is one of Netflix’s most-streamed releases, first airing on Christmas Day in 2020.

The second season came in 2022, receiving similarly high ratings and watched hours. Known for its raunchy sex scenes and modern take on the classic period drama, many have argued that Bridgerton has given the genre a new lease of life.

Nicola Coughlan’s character, Penelope Featherington, will be the focus of the upcoming season as we watch her embark on a quest to find a husband, despite previously crushing on Colin, played by Luke Newton.

According to an official synopsis for season three, “Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realise that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder.”

Colin is set to help Penelope find a husband; however, “when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly.”

Additionally, Penelope must attempt to conceal her secret identity as Lady Whistledown, as well as navigate old and new friendships following her falling out with Claudia Jessie’s Eloise.
