Medium to provide real-time readings in ‘Live from the Other Side’
Whether or not anyone chooses to accept such things as believable is entirely down to personal preference, but medium Tyler Henry has clearly carved out an audience on Netflix after being drafted back into the fold to front live series Live from the Other Side.
Henry’s previous collaboration with the streaming service came on Life After Death with Tyler Henry, but his latest endeavour promises something different by seeking to commune with the spirit realm in real-time should those on the opposite side of existence choose to play ball with his attempted communications.
Becoming a celebrity in the process, Henry first gained attention on the series Hollywood Medium, before becoming the go-to guy for the rich and famous to contact the beyond. Megan Fox and the Kardashian clan are among his former clients, but it’s a lot more difficult for average folks to book an appointment when his waiting list is currently more than 600,000 strong.
Beginning on September 17, Live from the Other Side with Tyler Henry will introduce a string of celebrity guests for “emotional readings that might help them find hope, healing, and long-awaited answers from their loved ones who’ve passed away.”
Speaking to Netflix, the medium shared that he’s “super humbled and grateful for the opportunity” to host a live show, before addressing the elephant in the room. “I know the scepticism that comes with mediums,” he acknowledged. “And this project will let me lean into that in an honest and unedited way, demonstrating high-stakes readings in real-time.”
The live angle was partially designed to tackle the sceptics head-on, with Henry revealing his goal “is for this live format to open some minds and change some minds.” Describing it as his “biggest, most interactive yet,” it remains to be seen if the doubters will be one over by Live from the Other Side when it premieres on streaming next month.
Netflix has been diversifying into live programming on an increasing basis, and there’s evidently no avenue the company isn’t willing to explore now that mediums have been added into the mix. There’s been comedy, sports, awards ceremonies, and much more, but drafting in Henry to sit opposite the stars and have a chinwag with the dearly departed is nothing if not a new one.
Live from the Other Side begins airing on Netflix on Tuesday, September 17, with new episodes following weekly at 3pm PST/6pm EST.
