John Mulaney returns to Netflix with six-night live comedy event

John Mulaney has always had a good relationship with Netflix as the streaming platform put on three of his previous specials, including John Mulaney: Baby JThe Comeback Kid and Kid Gorgeous. Now, it looks like the comedian is returning to the site as he will host a 6-part comedy event for the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival in May.

The series is called John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA, and it reflects that during the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival, almost every funny person in America is in the same city. The show will combine live performances and pre-shot skits in the LA area, which promises to highlight the town and bring in some special guests.

In the trailer that dropped recently promoting the event, residents of LA try to explain what viewers can expect to see. “John Mulaney explores the city of Los Angeles with his comedian friends, featuring people equal to, but not necessarily, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and David Letterman,” they say. “No one is confirmed yet, but a lot of people are in play. Everyone who passed did it in a nice, very funny way.”

The show is promised to be a celebration of LA that features some of the most iconic parts of the city, giving people outside of it an idea of what it’s like. One resident even said, “We’ll have one of those delivery robots, fingers crossed.”

As always, Netflix Is a Joke Fest will be a star-studded celebration of some of the best comedians available. It is promised to have “Over 300 live stand-up shows, special events, table reads, sketches and more with the best comedians and artists in the world.”

Several venues will be hosting the festival as comedians will be taking to The Greek, Hollywood Bowl, The Forum, The Dolby, The Palladium, The Wiltern and the Orpheum Theatre in what is guaranteed to be one of the biggest events in comedy.

While special guests for Mulaney’s special are still yet to be confirmed, it is guaranteed to be a lot of fun with plenty of familiar faces. You can watch the trailer below.
