Actor and comedian Mae Martin will make a return to Netflix after starring in the streaming giant’s Feel Good. Now Martin has landed the top spot in Tall Pines, a mystery thriller also starring Ryan Scott. Martin has also created and produced the new show.
Tall Pines is set in an odd but sinister town and will examine the dark underside of the “trouble teen industry” and how one generation always seems to be at odds with the next. Eight episodes have currently been confirmed by Netflix.
Sphere Media and Objective Fiction are producing the new show, having already made Feel Good with Martin and Netflix. Martin also created Feel Good, which was on the end of a brilliant critical reception, and the show was renewed by Netflix for a second and final season.
Martin said of the new limited series (via The Hollywood Reporter), “Tall Pines is a story I’ve been dying to tell for years, and I’m beyond excited for people to see what we have in store! It’s going to be an insane roller coaster and so different to anything I’ve done before.” Martin recently performed in the Netflix comedy special Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration, part of the Netflix Is a Joke: The Festival.
