Leo Woodall joins the cast of ‘Vladimir’
To become a Netflix star is to land headfirst into pop culture consciousness. And anyone who has done it in the past can attest what it means to wear the Netflix crown. Amid the current rollout season of Netflix favourites, the streaming giant just roped in Leo Woodall, who fans will remember from the second season of HBO’s The White Lotus series, for its upcoming limited series, Vladimir. Based on Julia May Jonas’s 2022 novel, the show was originally announced in March.
According to Variety, Leo Woodall is officially set to star opposite Rachel Weisz, who was announced previously. The 28-year-old will play the titular character, Vladimir, in the Netflix series. The official logline for Vladimir was revealed before: “As a woman’s life unravels, she becomes obsessed with her captivating new colleague. Full of sexy secrets, dark humour and complex characters, Vladimir is about what happens when a woman goes hell-bent to turn her fantasies into reality.
Woodall was formerly attached to a Netflix limited series, One Day. He was the male lead in the Netflix show, starring opposite Ambika Mod. Vladimir marks his second time in a Netflix limited series adapted from a book. Besides The White Lotus season two and One Day, Woodall has been most famously known from the Amazon Original series Citadel, Prime Target on Apple TV+, and Vampire Academy on Peacock.
Leo Woodall’s film credits include Cherry (2021) and the most recent, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025). WME, Hamilton Hodell, Anonymous Content, and Goodman Genow represent Woodall. For those curious about Weisz, she has been a mainstay in Hollywood for over three decades. She was a constant in The Mummy films, where she starred as Evelyn O’Connell. But beyond that, her film roles are a stunning showcase of versatility and range. From rom-coms to sci-fi, you name it, and Weisz has already done it.
“With Kate Robin’s expertise in crafting layered, darkly comedic female stories, a script that deftly examines the complexity of attraction and moral ambiguities, and the incomparable Rachel Weisz leading the cast, this project is a powerhouse collaboration of talented women,” Tracey Pakosta, vice president of Netflix’s comedy series said.
Moving on to Vladimir, Netflix has ordered an eight-episode show. Jonas serves as an executive producer alongside Weisz, who stars in the limited series. Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg and Kira Carstensen will executive produce under the Merman banner in association with Jason Winer & Jon Radler’s Small Dog Picture Company.
Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini also serve as executive producers for 20th Television. Jonas is attached to Vladimir in multiple roles. She is the creator who is co-authoring the show alongside Kate Robin, the showrunner. In addition to scripting for Vladimir, Robin is also an executive producer for the upcoming Netflix show.
