Lena Headey will join the cast of new series 'The Abandons' from 'Sons of Anarchy' creator

Lena Headey, known for playing Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones, will join the cast of a new Netflix series, The Abandons

The western was ordered to production in October 2022 and will be helmed by Kurt Sutter, the creator of Sons of Anarchy. According to Netflix (via The Hollywood Reporter), “These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, ‘justice’ is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law.

The Abandons will explore that fine line between survival and law, the consequences of violence, and the corrosive power of secrets, as this family fights to keep their land.”

According to the streaming service’s official Twitter account, Headey “will play Fiona, a devout matriarch in The Abandons, a new series from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter. It’s a pulse-pounding action drama that explores that fine line between survival and law in 1850s Oregon.”

The Abandons will be Sutter’s first series since he worked on – and was subsequently fired from – the Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans MC. Sutter was reportedly let go from the show due to several crew members filing complaints about his poor behaviour.

Sutter will work as The Abandons’ showrunner, executive producing alongside Emily Grinwis, Stephen Surjik and Otto Bathurst, with the latter two also directing.
