Check out Jenna Ortega's 'Wednesday' dance scene with The Cramps soundtrack

Netflix has posted a solo video of Jenna Ortega’s dance scene from Wednesday, which has gone viral since the show’s release. The scene is from episode four of the Addams Family spin-off show entitled ‘Woe What A Night’, in which Wednesday goes to her school’s dance.

The Nevermore Academy dance is called the annual Rave’n, and Wednesday dances to The Cramps’ spooky sounding ‘Goo Goo Muck’. Ortega recently said she had not had complete confidence in the scene. In a behind-the-scenes video, she said, “I felt really insecure about this. I choreographed that myself, and I think it’s very obvious that I’m not a dancer or choreographer.”

Ortega later gave her respects to a number of artists that inspired her on Twitter. She wrote, “Siouxsie Sioux, Bob Fosse’s Rich Man’s Frug, Lisa Loring, Lene Lovich, Denis Lavant, and archival footage of goths dancing in clubs in the ’80’s. Helped me out on this one.”

A fellow Twitter user pointed out that Ortega’s dancing seemed to pay homage to the original 1960s TV series. They wrote, “You threw a move in there that was a homage to John Astin’s Gomez. Don’t think we don’t see you. Well done.”

In other Wednesday news, the show’s writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar recently shared that Netflix wanted to cut a line from the show that defines Wednesday’s character. When Wednesday’s roommate suggests that she “take a stab at being social,” Wednesday replies, “I do like stabbing.”

While Netflix wanted the line cut, it ended up staying in the show as Millar and Gough had been adamant about its inclusion. Millar said, “That’s the whole point of the character. To lose that or dilute that is a betrayal of the character.” Wednesday continues to be the most popular series on Netflix right now. Check out Ortega’s dance below.
