The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: November 2022

There’s a new player in town in the top 10 most popular series on Netflix right now, and her name is Wednesday Addams. The debut season of Wednesday has stormed to the top of the charts with over 341 million views globally this week alone!

The show is based on the character of Wednesday Addams from the famous Addams Family franchise. Jenna Ortega stars as Wednesday, who moves to a new school after having trouble adapting to school life at her previous educational institutions, given her unpredictable mood and supernatural powers. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman are in support as Wednesday’s parents.

Some way behind Wednesday, although enjoying its second week in the top ten, is the first season of 1899. The show is set on a steamboat heading for New York City, on which all of the passengers are migrants from Europe and are said to be “running away from something”. Things take a turn for the mysterious when the ship runs into a previously assumed missing ship by the name of the Prometheus drifting in the middle of the ocean.

Controversy breeds intrigue by the looks of it, as the highly-publicised fifth season of The Crown is in the top 10 most-watched series on Netflix for the third consecutive week. Several sources close to the royal family and its actual members have come out in recent weeks to criticise the show and say that it is attempting to tear the royal family apart.

Manifest is the most popular series on Netflix in terms of breadth now, though. The show’s first season has its 23rd week in the top 10, and seasons one and three also join it. The supernatural drama follows the story of the passengers and crew of a commercial aeroplane who suddenly reappear after being presumed missing and dead for the last five and a half years. A gripping watch, indeed.

Basking in its first week in the spotlight is the docu-series Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?, which explores the Leonard vs Pepsico Inc. court case of the 1990s. Pepsi once aired an advert claiming that buyers of their drinks could earn points from their purchases and use them to buy prizes. For whatever reason, they joked that a harrier jet could be purchased for seven million points. However, when one barmy young man saved up enough points to buy the jet, Pepsi wasn’t accepting it.

Rounding off the list of this week’s top 10 series on Netflix is season one and season three of Dead to Me, a drama in which Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini bond over their grief, and the second season of Warrior Nun, which follows an orphan who discovers her superpowers and joins an ancient covenant of martial artist nuns.
