'Heartstopper' season three to be "more steamy", according to Kit Connor

Netflix has confirmed the release window for the upcoming third season of the popular coming-of-age television show Heartstopper, with the actors hinting towards a more mature tone than previous seasons.

In a video showing leads Kit Connor and Joe Locke rehearsing for episode eight of the third season, Connor confirms that the new instalment will be “more steamy,” confirming that it will also involve more “sexual tension, love.”

Yasmin Finney, who plays Elle on the show, adds that “the positive reaction from season two has really boosted all of our confidence – I can’t wait for you to see.”

William Gao hints at the possible direction Tao might embark on in season three, explaining that he “is beginning to figure out what he loves to do” and “he’s finding a passion for something that he begins to really love.”

The end of the video confirms that the show will be coming to Netflix in October, which will see our beloved characters embark on some fundamental life struggles as they deal with the forthcoming summer holidays. According to the synopsis, “everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan,” suggesting that there will be some tension among the friend group.

According to creator Alice Oseman, the show “will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope,” adding that season three will allow “the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up.”

She continued, explaining that the characters will address “mental health, sex, university ambitions, and more.” She also said that the group will be learning more about themselves, “experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys” as they grow into adulthood.

Seasons one and two of Heartstopper are available to stream on Netflix now.
