The release date for the upcoming spy thriller Heart of Stone, starring Gal Gadot and Jamie Dorman, has just been confirmed by Netflix. The platform released an eventful trailer for their upcoming original features, showcasing short clips of each film with a release date and scheduling Heart of Stone for a summer release.
The thriller was written by Greg Rucka, known for his screenplay credits for The Old Guard and Allison Schroeder, who found success with the Oscar-nominated Hidden Figures. It features DC star Gadot as Rachel Stone, an intelligence agent who stands between her powerful organisation and the loss of its most valued asses.
Fifty Shades of Grey star Dornan plays Parker, with Alia Bhatt, Sophie Okonedo, Matthias Schweighöfer, Jing Lusi and Paul Ready also making onscreen appearances. DigitalSpy shared Gadot’s explanation of the film: “Heart of Stone is going to be extremely epic. It’s a super grounded, raw, action-thriller.”
“We really wanted to make sure we keep it realistic so people can feel the pain,” the Wonder Woman star added. “Rachel Stone lives off the adrenaline, she’s addicted to it.”
Details of the film’s synopsis have been kept minimal. However, with Peaky Blinders and War & Peace director Tom Harper on board, expectations for thrilling action and compelling characters are on the horizon.
The new sneak peek shows Stone being reminded that “you know what you signed up for” in taking on such an intensive job that also requires “no friends” and “no relationships” because it’s “too important” for distractions like companionship.
Filming began in March 2022, with Gadot posting some behind-the-scenes images on Twitter with the caption: “Rachel Stone. Nice to meet you. #HeartOfStone @NetflixFilm @JaronVarsano @Skydance.”
Filming ended in the summer when production wrapped on June 20th, 2022. The features trailer Netflix released also shows Chris Hemsworth’s return as Tyler Rake in Extraction 2 and Eddie Murphy cracking jokes in You People.
On Netflix, viewers can watch Gadot and Dornan in Heart of Stone on Friday, August 11th.
