Five Netflix shows to watch on Father’s Day 2025
Netflix has always been a trendsetter. But it doesn’t need a season to dazzle the audience because seasons find Netflix on their own. With Father’s Day just around the corner, Best of Netflix brings to you five shows pitch-perfect for the occasion. While you might expect a genre-bending marathon, it’s intentionally done to meet every streaming need. In the fast-forward digital world, where communication relies on a mobile’s remaining battery, individual quality time has taken a backseat, let alone family time.
But just because routine family dinners and trips have shrunk in count, it doesn’t mean the streaming era comes without celebration. Each and every festive season gets a North Star glow when Netflix pulls up its socks. So, for those who thought a Father’s Day streaming guide would go amiss, here’s your cue to save the date, stock up on popcorn, sit back and relax with your dad. For the fun dads out there, laughter riots are awaiting downstairs.
As for the action-seekers, Netflix knows which road you should take. But this streaming guide is not just for the fathers. It goes out to every father-like figure who shows no restraint in their contribution, whether related by blood or not. For some, Father’s Day is all about travelling the extra mile to see their old man’s face light up with a smile. For others, it’s a day to use all the pocket money they saved from lunch for a gift to their dad.
Likewise, the day is equally for the ones who just want to chill with their pop. No drama, no extravaganza, just good food and a Netflix watchlist that makes them feel at home.
Five perfect Father’s Day shows to enjoy on Netflix
5. A Man on the Inside (Mike Schur, 2024)
If your dad is a bit of a detective, not the Ted Mosby kind, then A Man on the Inside is probably made for him. The comedy show has Ted Danson playing the role of Charles, a widower and a retired professor who’s having a hard time connecting with his adult daughter. Desperate to find a new purpose in life, he decides to respond to a newspaper commercial that seeks a mole for a private investigator.
The mission is simple: to help the PI get hold of a family heirloom that’s gone missing. But where to find the necklace? At a retirement home!
4. Stranger Things (Duffer Brothers, 2016-present)
Everyone knows the eerie story of Hawkins, where a shaven-headed kid and her friends fight tooth and nail to save the town members from otherworldly forces. Stranger Things primarily follows Eleven and her Hawkins gang, who try to get to the roots of an alternate dimension, the Upside Down. But within the heart of the show is a father-like figure loved by all, and especially Eleven, Jim Hopper.
It’s revealed early in the series that Hopper lost his daughter to cancer, pushing him towards a life of isolation. However, Eleven’s mysterious arrival in Hawkins changes his life, eventually taking on a more important role for the children who would do anything to save the town. His story takes an interesting turn in season four, making the wait for season five even more suspenseful. In case your dad’s out of the loop, it’s time to let him in on the sci-fi series of the decade.
3. Ozark (Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams, 2017-2022)
When a Father’s Day watch guide was promised, we thought of dads who would die on a dime for their family. And if Marty Bryde doesn’t make it from Ozark, who would? It might not be the light-hearted, feel-good watch many might seek, but Ozark explores family dynamics in the face of the biggest challenges. The show follows Marty, who relocates with his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, driven by his desperate attempt to save himself and his family from a Mexican drug cartel.
But their move further entangles them with negative forces, including gangsters and local criminals. Ozark may not be an easy watch for all, but for some, we know, it hits the bullseye.
2. Lupin (George Kay and François Uzan, 2021-present)
Those who haven’t watched Lupin on Netflix, Father’s Day is the ultimate cosmic calling. The French mystery thriller follows Assane Diop, a master thief, whose mission is to make the wealthy Pellegrini family pay for his father’s death, who was responsible for it 25 years ago. Assane is the only son of Senegal, an immigrant who travelled to France to make a better living for himself and his child. But Hubert Pelligrini, Senegal’s powerful and rich employer, framed him for a diamond necklace theft, which left Assane’s father to rot and die in prison.
From early on, Assane had to struggle to survive, with his father’s hand taken away over a brutal betrayal. However, a gift his father provided years ago ultimately became his ammo for revenge: a book about the thief Arsène Lupin. The second season takes a darker turn with Assane’s son being kidnapped. Moreover, a fourth season is currently in production.
1. FUBAR (Nick Santora, 2023-present)
FUBAR, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro, fits the Father’s Day bill a bit too much. Though the show portrays a troublesome father-daughter relationship, quite untrustworthy of each other, they make a dream team for the CIA when tasked to join forces for the betterment of the country. At first, they both remain oblivious of each other’s links to the CIA. But upon their discovery, they realise neither of them knows much about the other.
As Luke and Emma team up for high-stakes missions, Luke’s fatherly sentiments begin to take over. They may be covert operatives of the highest level, but beyond the surface level, they resemble any ordinary dad-daughter duo. Moreover, to the delight of Netflix fans, FUBAR season 2 was just released on Netflix on June 12th, 2025, to mark the streaming celebration of Father’s Day weekend. So, what are you waiting for?
