Five Netflix shows fans cannot wait to return to
The most challenging aspect of long-format Netflix shows is the months-long, if not years-long, wait between instalments.
Because, believe it or not, the gap does more than rob fans of memories of what happened last time around.
Although Netflix has hit bullseye with several returning shows this year, fans have their sights set on a select few titles confirmed to continue in the near future and blow everyone’s minds just like they did before.
While it’s hard to group all the highly anticipated renewals fans have been waiting for, here’s a rundown of the top five returning shows they can no longer wait for.

Dept Q (Scott Frank and Alissa Amuruso, 2025-Present)
Based on Jussi Adler-Olsen’s novels, Dept Q is expected to return with its sophomore season sometime in 2027, and we know you’re growing impatient. In the debut season of the detective drama, which spent six weeks on Netflix’s global top 10 weekly shows chart, DCI Carl Mørck was sent into a crammed-up basement in Edinburgh’s police station to solve cold cases previously deemed unsolvable.
While Carl also had his band of misfits to assist him in the debut season, the trio returns in the second season to investigate an unimaginable crime hidden in the highest ranks of Scottish society. Dept Q season two spotlights a storyline that executive producer Rob Bullock believes is fitting for contemporary times. It is a story of “rich and powerful people who believe they are above the law; Carl, of course, knows otherwise.”
Untamed (Thomas Bezucha, Nick Murphy, and Neasa Hardiman, 2025-Present)
Investigative Services Branch agent Kyle Turner of the National Park Service is set to return with a second chapter of Untamed on Netflix, and this time, expect a whole new mystery on the wild block. In the upcoming season, Kyle swaps the cold wilderness and pointy cliffs of Yosemite National Park for the tropical, volatile Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park to investigate a mysterious death, which is not exactly the first park he has been to since Yosemite.
While fans can expect Turner to feel less at home in season two, Untamed’s return also brings new characters to the forefront, including Awapuhi, who’s spent the last few years in Oahu grieving her son’s death. However, now she’s returning to the Big Island to face the ghosts of her past. The spotlight also shifts to Ray Burkart, a divisive businessman who constantly locks horns with Turner over his son’s murder investigation.
The Night Agent (Seth Gordon, Adam Arkin, Guy Ferland, Millicent Shelton, Ramaa Mosley, Ana Lily Amirpour, Paris Barclay, Billy Gierhart, and Hiromi Kamata, 2023-2027)
Peter Sutherland will return for one last mission in 2027 in the fourth and final season of The Night Agent, but fans can barely get sleep even now. In the third season of the hit Netflix series, Peter went all out to investigate a dark-money network that gave him a deadly reality check about his true alliances and the deep-seated conspiracy brewing in the higher echelons of government. But the season pulled the curtains with more questions than fans had started with.
Although the plot details remain under wraps on the fourth and final instalment of The Night Agent, Peter is going nowhere without the send-off he truly deserves. While the thrills will exceed the intensity of the first three seasons without a doubt, this wait is, unfortunately, for a definitive conclusion to the show viewers have grown to love over time. So, cherish the wait while you can because the phone will soon stop ringing late at night.
The Gentlemen (Guy Ritchie, Eran Creevy, David Caffrey, Nima Nourizadeh, and Nick Rowland, 2024-Present)
Eddie Horniman returned just last week in The Gentlemen season two, shedding the skin of a reluctant gentleman who accidentally stumbled into the secret cannabis trade to become a ruthless duke, desperate and determined to grow the enterprise. As Bobby becomes increasingly erratic with his decisions, Eddie and Susie face the ultimate dilemma: spring into action or risk losing everything they’ve built.
Well, The Gentlemen season two culminated in a bloody finale that left viewers resetting the countdown for season three right at the outset. Although it’s a little too early to pinpoint exactly what will go down in the forthcoming instalment, with Peru and cartel connections in play alongside previous expansions in Italy, the underworld scene is going to get bigger and deadlier without a doubt.
The Hunting Wives (Jennifer Getzinger, Cheryl Dunye, Melanie Mayron, and Julie Anne Robinson, 2025-Present)
Unlike the other titles expected to arrive in 2027 and beyond, The Hunting Wives season two is just around the corner. Premiering November 26th, the second season picks up right where we left off with multiple body bags and secret rivalries. When the season opens, Margo and Sophie are clearly on opposite sides, but the question is: will they stay that way, given everything that has gone down in season one?
Doesn’t really seem so! With old skeletons peeking through the closet and new foes taking centre stage, Sophie and Margo will soon find their way back to each other, for better or worse. But while they’re back playing the same old musical chairs with life and death, it remains to be seen whether the hunters get the upper hand in The Hunting Wives or end up being hunted.
