The real surprise was how many fresh releases broke through. Five of Netflix’s 10 most-watched shows premiered during the first half of the year, with new thrillers competing against returning juggernauts that already had massive fan bases behind them. Let us tell you, that was no easy feat.
Before we go ahead with the fantastic five, there are a few iconic shows that narrowly miss our list. Korean action drama Teach You a Lesson pulled in 48.2 million views, while One Piece Season 2 reached 47.3 million. Man on Fire managed 40.4 million, and even The Night Agent returned with another 36.1 million.

You what? A six-episode murder mystery managed to outpace every other Netflix series in the first half of 2026, pulling in 104 million views. That is absolutely barmy! His & Hers stars Tessa Thompson as Anna Andrews, a television reporter who returns to her Georgia hometown after an old school friend is murdered. The detective leading the case is Jack Harper, her estranged husband, played by Jon Bernthal. Oh, brilliant. As if a murder investigation were not awkward enough already. Then each starts wondering whether the other might be involved.
The series adapts Alice Feeney’s bestselling novel, though filmmaker William Oldroyd helped rewrite the story for television. Thompson and Bernthal make the mistrust feel personal, because these are not merely two people arguing over evidence. They know exactly how to wound one another. Its shifting perspectives keep pulling the rug from under you. Still, 104 million? No word of a lie, that figure is outrageous.
Bridgerton Season 4
From suspicious spouses to the marriage mart. Obviously Bridgerton was going to be in the top 3 because who doesn’t love a bit of emotional whiplash? Season four finally hands the romantic reins to Benedict Bridgerton, the family’s artistic second son. He has no real interest in settling down until he meets a masked woman at his mother’s ball. She vanishes before he can discover who she is. What in Cinderella’s name? Then Benedict meets Sophie Baek, a maid whose life could not be further removed from the privileged world he knows. He has not got a clue they are the same woman. Benedict, mate. Open your eyes.
The story comes from Julia Quinn’s An Offer from a Gentleman, with Luke Thompson starring opposite Yerin Ha. Netflix released the eight episodes in two parts. Did the split slow anyone down? Not a chance. The season still amassed 100.2 million views by June. Imagine pulling in more than 100 million and somehow not coming first. You would be absolutely fuming, wouldn’t you?
I Will Find You
Ahh, Netflix viewers and their undying love for limited series. I Will Find You was quite late to the party yet ended up scoring the third position on the list, scoring 63.9 million views after releasing in June. It starts with David Burroughs, who is serving life for murdering his young son, though he insists he did not do it. Then comes evidence suggesting the boy may still be alive. Sorry, what? Naturally, David escapes prison to find him, knowing that uncovering the truth is his only chance of getting his life back. Sam Worthington has done a fantastic job playing David.
The eight-part thriller is adapted from Harlan Coben’s 2023 novel and is a refreshing change in that it shifts from the regular British settings that have become familiar in Netflix’s recent Coben dramas. This one takes place in the United States, where the original story is set. A matter of weeks, then straight into third place. Get on that.
Stranger Things Season 5
And then there is Stranger Things 5, which wrapped up this year after a decade-long run. The season did not even premiere in 2026; it began its final run in November 2025, with the concluding episode arriving on New Year’s Eve. Yet viewers carried it into the following year, adding another 55.6 million views during Netflix’s January-to-June window. The final season finds Hawkins under military quarantine while Eleven and her friends prepare to face Vecna one last time.
The ending closed a story that began nearly a decade earlier with four boys searching for their missing friend. Netflix later released One Last Adventure, a documentary exploring the work behind the final season. And do you want to know the wider numbers? Brace yourself. Across all five seasons, Stranger Things had generated 1.5 billion views by March 2026. That has finished us. No wonder the farewell kept pulling audiences back.
Run Away
After Hawkins, we have yet another Coben classic Run Away, which begins with Simon Greene believing he has a secure family life until his eldest daughter Paige disappears. When he eventually finds her, he basically comes across any father’s worst nightmare. He finds her in a vulnerable state and involved with a man Simon immediately distrusts. Then that man turns up dead. Brilliant! Next thing, Simon is suspected of murder, and Paige has vanished again.
James Nesbitt leads the British adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel, joined by Ruth Jones and Minnie Driver. Alfred Enoch plays one of the detectives investigating the killing, while Lucian Msamati appears as a man with his own link to Paige. But the real hook is Simon’s dawning horror as he realises he may barely know his own family. Released in early January, the limited series accumulated 50.3 million views. Fifth place with more than 50 million?
