Five Netflix releases to keep an eye out for this week
Selecting the best of the best of whatever Netflix offers every week has never been an easy task. Of course, this week is no different, but giving up is not in our blood.
After the week subscribers had last time, Netflix decided to take things slow at the start this week, pushing all the high-profile releases to the second half.
In short, if you’re worried about rushing and leaving titles incomplete, maybe you should think again.
It doesn’t mean Netflix is short on original content; it just means there’s time. So, breathe, relax, and finish the titles in your backlog before catching up on five Netflix releases to keep an eye out for this week.
Five Netflix releases to watch out for this week:
Nobody Wants This (2024-Present)
The first big entry deserves some drum rolls as Netflix releases the highly anticipated third season of Nobody Wants This on October 22nd. The spotlight is back on our beloved lovebirds Joanne and Noah as they take a new step in their love story by moving in together, while the former navigates conversion to Judaism. The pair moves into a shared home, keeping laser-eyed focus on building a solid life together that screams rom-com.
At the same time, Joanne starts taking Rabbi Eden’s conversion classes and stumbles into class adversary Sebastien, just as she confronts lingering family dynamics. The third season of Nobody Wants This also follows Sasha and Esther as they navigate the dating world differently after their separation, figuring out co-parenting and the inherent awkwardness of dating apps. Meanwhile, Morgan pigeonholes her focus on personal and professional growth, still harbouring unspoken romantic tension with you-know-who.
Did Someone Happen to Mention Me? (2026)
Although Netflix dropped some gritty, suspenseful thrillers all month, this week leans towards comedy. So, the next entry on the watchlist is the Japanese comedy-drama, Did Someone Happen to Mention Me?, releasing on October 22nd. The Netflix series centres on actor Gen Takasegawa, who spends two years in London achieving widespread acclaim as the first Japanese star to play the lead role of King Lear at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
Upon his return to the Land of the Sun, he discovers that a pandemic and a second vaccine dose have sparked a bizarre mass amnesia, causing 99% of the population to forget him. With his credit cards cancelled and his social media presence a thing of the past, it turns out that his estranged wife and children fail to recognise him. Did Someone Happen to Mention Me? centres on Gen as he hustles to rebuild his forgotten identity from scratch.
Lupin (2021-Present)
Scheduled to arrive on October 23rd, the fourth season of Lupin comes four years after the end of the third season, and Assane is still in prison. Although Assane claims he’s no longer Lupin and wants to only serve his sentence and fulfil his promise to his son, his plans are upended when a mysterious announcement signed by Lupin surfaces.
The announcement states that multiple museums are set to be robbed simultaneously, and even with heightened security, the heists go just as planned. With Assane behind bars, proclaiming his innocence, everything else points to him as the mastermind. Lupin season four follows Assane as he’s forced to don the costume once more to unmask a copycat who seems to stop at nothing.
Fading Grandeur (2026)
Next in line is the new Spanish comedy-drama, Fading Grandeur. Premiering on October 23rd, the Netflix series follows Don Leandro, a fading marquis obsessed with appearances and desperate to be recognised as a Grandee of Spain by the king, and more importantly, to pay for his daughter’s wedding. So, to escape financial bankruptcy, he decides to sell his decaying family mansion in Spain.
Soon enough, a supposedly wealthy businesswoman, Sofia, shows keen interest in buying the property. But just as their financial negotiations progress alongside attempted seductions, it becomes clear as daylight that neither Leandro nor Sofia is who they originally claim to be, sparking a chaotic unravelling of buried secrets.
Surviving Hurricane Otis (2026)
Directed by Jorge Michel Grau, Surviving Hurricane Otis is set against the coast of Acapulco, Mexico, during the sudden, catastrophic onset of Hurricane Otis in October 2023. Releasing on October 23rd, the Mexican survival drama follows Wirpul and his half-brother Candi as they witness an ordinary storm escalating into a Category 5 hurricane while they’re at sea.
Caught completely off guard by the hurricane’s unprecedented intensification, the brothers are trapped in the middle of the sea on their boat with no way out. Surviving Hurricane Otis draws intensely from real-life accounts of local sailors who miraculously survived on their boats as the devastating storm grasped the shore, killing several and leaving many more missing.
