Netflix is really planning to take its content game to the next level in the first full week of August, with each new day outdoing the lineup from the previous ones.
From highly anticipated literary adaptations and returning shows to long-awaited sci-fi horrors, chaotic new adult animated comedies and more, the arrival arc this week is nothing less than a dream come true.
But before viewers step into the dream theatre, how about a preview of all the high-profile highlights yet to come?

One Hundred Years of Solitude (Laura Mora and Alex García López, 2024-2026)
One Hundred Years of Solitude, based on Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez’s best-selling realist novel, is officially coming to a close with its second and final part this month, with the first seven episodes landing on August 5th, followed by a grand finale on August 26th. The series picks up after the signing of the Treaty of Neerlandia, highlighting the ongoing scarcity of peace as the Conservatives scheme an attack driven by fear for Colonel Aureliano Buendia.
But in a twist of fate, the assassination plot leads Fernanda del Carpio to return from Bogotá to Macondo. One Hundred Years of Solitude’s second part captures Macondo’s modernisation, thanks to the emerging railroad and the banana company that opens the floodgates of economic exploitation, the tragic labour strike, and the ultimate fulfilment of Úrsula Iguarán’s generational curse.
My Life with the Walter Boys (Jerry Ciccoritti, Nimisha Mukerji, Winnifred Jong, and Jason Priestley, 2023-Present)
Scheduled to hit Netflix shelves on August 6th, the third season of My Life with the Walter Boys continues the story after the shocking season two finale, which culminated with the exposed love triangle, George’s medical emergency, and fresh arrivals in Silver Falls. The third instalment of the teen romance drama opens with George in the hospital, forcing the entire family to pick up the pieces, re-evaluate their lives, and rally around Katherine.
With Jackie on a mission to develop the town’s community space, Cole has traded football and the auto shop for the racetrack. As for Alex? Well, the third season of My Life with the Walter Boys has Alex redirecting his entire attention to his new rodeo riding team, whether to cope with the shattered reality of the confessions he heard in the season two finale or perhaps to escape the burden of that very reality. Safe to say, the upcoming instalment will see some high-stakes relationships put to the test.
Alley Cats (Ricky Gervais and Elliot Dear, 2026)
Arriving on August 7th, Alley Cats is the greatly anticipated adult animated series from Ricky Gervais that’s about to crack viewers up in more ways than one. The series tells the story of a sardonic, overweight ginger tomcat called Gus and his ragtag gang of foul-mouthed strays – Fang, Ponce, Puke, and Olive – who run into a displaced young kitten in their neighbourhood and make it a mission to help them.
Led by Gus, the hardened gang vows to help the kitten find her way back home, only to be constantly distracted by petty neighbourhood square-offs, hunting, and dark philosophical debates on human culture and mortality. Alley Cats follows Gus and his cynical crew’s chaotic journey of getting the kitten back home, which comes with its fair share of unfiltered wisdom about the inevitable dangers of street life and life in general.
Our Sticky Love (Kim Jang-han, 2026)
Also scheduled to touchdown on August 7th is the upcoming South Korean romantic comedy show Our Sticky Love. So, if you haven’t marked your calendars, do it before you run out of time. The rom-com follows Go Eun-sae, a formidable anti-corruption prosecutor who suffers a massive memory loss after investigating a high-stakes crime syndicate. As she wakes up in a rural village under the care of Jang Tae-ha, a boxing coach, with no recollection of her identity, past, or profession, she has no choice but to believe his story.
It turns out that the boxing coach is not the only identity Tae-ha has. Quite surprisingly, he was part of the same criminal underworld Eun-sae was once investigating, and in her new reality, Tae-ha claims to be her boyfriend. Set in a small countryside village, Our Sticky Love revolves around the unlikely duo as they start living under the same roof, bringing a mix of suspense and mushy, sticky romance.
The Last House (Louis Leterrier, 2026)
The final Netflix Original stop of the week is undoubtedly The Last House, also releasing on August 7th. The gritty sci-fi thriller, directed by Louis Leterrier, revolves around an ordinary family of four struggling with an extraordinary threat as parents Jason and Ann wake up one fine day to realise their family home has been physically locked down from the outside world by an anonymous, ominous force.
What starts as an isolated event goes on to stretch from days to weeks and even years, leaving the family to adapt to a new reality as basic essentials become luxuries with each passing day. The Last House follows the family as they desperately try to outsmart the unknown force keeping them trapped, testing their psychological limitations alongside the viewers’ as they find themselves battling claustrophobia on the other end of the screen.
