Five Netflix releases to watch out for this week
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (Dolly Wells, Tom Vaughan, Asim Abbasi, and Jill Robertson, 2024-Present)
In just two days, the British mystery series, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, will return to Netflix with its second season on May 27th. Based on Holly Jackson’s 2019 novel, the second season of the hit detective drama starring Emma Myers will tackle a fresh mystery. After solving the Andie Bell case in the debut season, Pippa Fitz-Amobi is still reeling from the fallouts that came with her actions in the upcoming instalment.
Although she plans to maintain a strict distance from further investigations, when Max Hastings’ trial inches closer, key witness Jamie Reynolds vanishes into thin air, and once again, Pip has to spring back into action. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season two follows Pip on a race against time to track down Jamie as she embarks on a mission to uncover a new mystery, venturing into unexpected territories while navigating the blurry justice system.
Murder Mindfully (Boris Kunz, Max Zahlé, and Martina Plura, 2024-Present)
Since premiering on 2024 Halloween, Murder Mindfully has broken new ground, drawing new audiences from left and right with its continued momentum. And this week, the black comedy thriller is finally returning after a good two-year gap on May 28th, so mark your calendars now! The sophomore season of the black comedy thriller brings back Björn Diemel, who seems to have figured out and tamed the puzzle of life.
While Björn has his personal life unexpectedly under control, the second season of Murder Mindfully follows him as the legal representative of two warring, leaderless mafia clans, following the “mindful” disappearance of their bosses. At the same time, he must resolve unresolved conflicts from his past and face the “old wounds,” particularly his childhood, with the assistance of his mindfulness coach.
The Four Seasons (Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, 2025-Present)
Also returning on May 28th is The Four Seasons, promising a second round of adventure, chaos, comedy, and drama pinned to its hats. The sophomore season of the hit Netflix dramedy begins right where the debut season left off, in the aftermath of Nick’s unexpected death in a tragic car crash, when his girlfriend Ginny revealed to the rest of the group – Kate, Jack, Anne, Danny, and Claude – that she’s pregnant with Nick’s child.
So, as the group grapples with a tough year, they continue their vacationing tradition, albeit with some missing and new faces. Although Nick is, unfortunately, under the cross, the group has a new member in tow: his baby. As a result, The Four Seasons follows the group as they learn to “re-form as a group,” adapting to the changes and also the challenges that come.
Brazil ’70: The Third Star (Pedro and Paulo Morelli, Quico Meirelles, 2026)
Netflix doesn’t plan to give football fans rest just yet, with a new limited series, Brazil ’70: The Third Star, coming up next on May 29th. The Netflix project revisits the Brazilian football team’s historic 1970 World Cup victory, which is said to have been marked by considerable conflict and external pressure. The series is essentially a “deep dive” into the players and the technical commission’s setbacks and fears.
Set during the toughest phase of Brazil’s military dictatorship, Brazil ’70: The Third Star captures both the on-field genius of the game and the off-field political pressure and tension in general as the players found themselves representing a fragmented nation under high-stakes surveillance. In case you’re a football fanatic and have been looking for a sports-centric recommendation before the World Cup, this could be it.
Rafa (Zach Heinzerling, 2026)
Finally, we come to a close with Rafa on Netflix, also scheduled to hit streaming shelves on May 29th. The four-part docu-series follows tennis legend Rafael Nadal’s final season in 2024, capturing his inspirational attempt at one last competitive run all while he navigates the emotional and physical realities of stepping away from the sport.
Rafa comprises never-before-seen footage, tracing his evolution from a three-year-old picking up a racket for the first time to his becoming a 22-time Grand Slam champion and a pioneer of the sport. Additionally, the Netflix documentary provides an intimate look at his life beyond the tennis court, including his fatherhood chapter, also featuring interviews with his greatest contemporaries who open up about his legacy.
