Based on the webtoon Field Mouse, the premise of the gripping new psychological thriller is eerily inspired by an old Korean folktale in which, when a rat chips anyone’s clipped fingernails, they transform into that very person.

What is the plot?
Mousetrap is a forthcoming South Korean thriller on Netflix which follows Je Mun-jae, a reclusive novelist whose life has been reduced to complete isolation. While he lives a quiet life, that is upended once and for all when he wakes up one day to find that his phone no longer recognises his fingerprint. Although the situation is concerning, what adds to his concern is that the only friend responsible for his affairs has gone missing without a trace.
Upon digging deeper, Mun-jae realises that none of the incidents is mere coincidences, as an enigmatic entity called The Rat is responsible for stealing his fortune, identity, and everything that comes with it. With no way to prove his authenticity, he finds himself as the imposter in his own life. However, Mun-jae is desperate to reclaim everything, and that determination leads him to the door of a loan shark, No-ja, who happens to own a private investigation agency.

The Netflix K-thriller Mousetrap boasts a star-studded cast starring Ryu Jun-yeol as Je Mun-jae, Sul Kyung-gu as No-ja, Lee Kyu-hyung as Sun Yong, Lee Myung-hee as the Yakult lady, and Kang Myoung-soo as the postman.
