Every movie and series leaving Netflix this week: July 2025
It is rare for the end of a month to feel this quiet on Netflix. As we approach the final stretch of July, there are only three confirmed titles set to leave the platform between July 28th and July 31st. A big surprise for regular Netflix users. Typically, the final week of any month brings with it a small wave of removals. It includes last-minute binges and a subtle pressure to finish that half-watched movie before it disappears. But not this time. This time, Netflix seems to be holding back just a little.
The most notable exit is Sonic the Hedgehog 2, leaving on July 28th. The film brought the iconic video game character back to the big screen. A sequel filled with energy, chaos, and Jim Carrey at his most unhinged. It is loud, silly, and entertaining for both kids and nostalgic adults. If you have not seen it yet, this is your last chance.
A couple of days later, The Kingdom, a South African political drama, leaves the platform on July 30th. It is a show that did not get much mainstream attention but quietly built a reputation for being tense, well-written, and thematically rich.
Finally, Seriously Single, a Netflix original romantic comedy, departs on July 31st. Set in Johannesburg, it is a modern take on dating and friendship that leans into the chaos of commitment-phobia and social media-fuelled expectations. All three titles are worth a last look before they vanish, especially if you are in the mood for something fun, dramatic, or a little off the beaten path.
Titles leaving Netflix over the weekend and early August
While July may be ending on a quiet note, August is coming in loud. The very first day of the new month will see more than 30 movies and multiple series vanish from the platform. This includes everything from war epics and psychological thrillers to beloved comedies and childhood classics. Netflix is clearing the shelves fast.
Among the most notable August 1st exits is Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan’s immersive World War II thriller. It is a tightly constructed, visually arresting film that deserves a big screen, but if Netflix is where you planned to watch it, now is the time. Other big titles leaving on the same day include Lucy, Everest, Psycho, Rear Window, The Birds, and Happy Gilmore. That’s right, even Adam Sandler is not safe. For fans of teen nostalgia, The Breakfast Club is also exiting, alongside The Wedding Planner and Spanglish.
TV lovers take note: Heartland (seasons 1 to 16) and Ugly Betty (seasons 1 to 4) are also saying goodbye on August 1st. That’s a lot of comfort TV leaving in one fell swoop. August 3rd brings a smaller but notable exit list, including the Nigerian drama Elevator Baby and the animated series Shaka Inkosi YamaKhosi.
It might feel like Netflix gave us a break at the end of July, but do not let that fool you. August 1 is one of the busiest removal days of the year. Consider this your official reminder to check your watchlist and queue up those last-minute watches before they disappear.
