After a rather relaxing week on the departures front, Netflix has decided that enough is enough. Last week? Last week, it was remarkably easy. A bunch of titles left the platform, and the world kept spinning. No last-minute binge rush. This week, though? Oh, it’s time to get real. We have been walloped by plenty of films and, lucky enough, a few series leaving Netflix.

The first major departure hit is on August 10th, when Aftermath and Colossal leave Netflix. Now, Colossal is unquestionably the one worth making a fuss about. Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis and a giant monster mess… Count us in! A story that becomes far stranger and darker than you initially expect. So, naturally, Netflix is taking it away. Marvellous!

August 11th brings another little sting with Free Fire and Marry Me bidding goodbye. Free Fire, in particular, is an absolute blast if you fancy ninety minutes of people shouting and shooting. Then there is Jennifer Lopez’s Marry Me, the considerably more comforting option for anyone who would prefer a dose of romance to bullets.

And then we arrive at August 15th and 16th. This is where shit gets a little too real.

The Game loses seasons one, two and three on August 15th, followed a day later by Better Than Us, with both seasons of the sci-fi drama leaving as a Netflix Original removal. That one might catch subscribers on the hop. We have become so accustomed to seeing that little Netflix badge and assuming something will stay put forever. Apparently not.

Also leaving on August 16th are Dark Places, The Gunman and seasons one to three of The Venture Bros, which is going to sting for those who were in the middle of the binge.

So yes, after last week’s peace and quiet, the departures list has found its teeth again.

If any of these have been sitting on your watchlist, you know the drill. Cancel the plans and start bingeing. Because, unfortunately, the clock is very much ticking.
