Every film coming to Netflix in May 2024

In May 2024, Netflix will bring in a diverse array of films—fictional and non-fictional kind. From comedies like Blended, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, to period dramas like The Young Victoria, starring Emily Blunt as the titular queen, there is plenty to look forward to this month.

Another highlight is Mortal Kombat (2021), a reboot of the classic video game adaptation directed by Simon McQuoid. Filled with visceral martial arts choreography and iconic characters, this film offers a fresh take on the beloved gaming franchise. For those in the mood for comedy, Liar Liar, starring Jim Carrey, is a timeless classic that is arriving on Netflix to entertain once again. Directed by Tom Shadyac, the film follows a fast-talking lawyer who suddenly finds himself unable to tell a lie for 24 hours, leading to a series of misadventures.

On the documentary front, Secrets of the Neanderthals offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of our ancient human relatives. Exploring recent archaeological discoveries and scientific breakthroughs, this documentary sheds new light on the mysterious world of the Neanderthals and their interactions with early humans.

In addition, The Final: Attack on Wembley provides a gripping look at one of the most iconic events in soccer history. Directed by Robert Miller and Kwabena Oppong, this documentary chronicles the dramatic conclusion of a high-stakes tournament, where “a dramatic England penalty defeat to Italy and chaos as thousands of un-ticketed fans attempted to storm Wembley Stadium.”

Fans of horror crime can tune into The Clovehitch Killer, which offers a chilling exploration of a small-town community plagued by a series of murders. Directed by Duncan Skiles, this psychological thriller follows a teenage boy who starts suspecting his own father of something gruesome. Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy The Gentlemen is also arriving on Netflix this month, along with the twisted dramedy mystery film A Simple Favor.

In original films, the rom-com Mother of The Bride is all set to be the cheesy popcorn binge of the month. The Jennifer Lopez starrer Atlas will once again attempt (after the Netflix original Heart of Stone tried something similar last year) to prove that AI is not really the source of all evil in a world where workers are crying foul over stolen work and opportunities.

There will be more on the sci-fi front. Upgrade is directed by Leigh Whannell, known for his work on the Saw and Insidious franchises. Set in a near-future world where technology reigns supreme, the film follows a man who receives a cutting-edge implant that gives him extraordinary abilities. And, of course, there is so much more.

Overall, Netflix’s May lineup offers plenty of entertainment, whether you’re in the mood for high-octane action, curious documentaries, or spine-tingling thrillers.
