As old films and series leave, new ones also arrive in the Netflix library this week.
Kicking off the week on August 22nd, Netflix introduces Sommore: A Queen With No Spades (2018), where comedian Sommore brings her fourth self-produced comedy special. All The Queens Men (2019), another Sommore special coming to the platform, “features a select group of seasoned comedians who bring more than a half of decade of combined comedic experience and know-how.”
Adding to the original content line-up, Lighthouse arrives with its debut season. The variety show features Gen Hoshino and Masayasu Wakabayashi, who “casually get together for some real talk, shedding light on their vulnerabilities and worries, with lots of laughs along the way.”
If you’re a fan of documentaries, Untold: Swamp Kings is a limited series that dives deep into how football coach Urban Meyer turned the 2000s-era Florida Gators into a winning machine.
Moving on to August 23rd, Squared Love Everlasting (2023) is a Polish Netflix Original that blends romance and fantasy. The financial world takes centre stage with The Big Short (2015), a critically acclaimed film that offers an insider’s look into the 2008 housing market crisis.
For fans of K-dramas, Destined with You arrives with its debut season as a Netflix Original. The reality show The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On returns with its second season as a Netflix Original.
As the week progresses to August 24th, the anime Baki Hanma returns with its eagerly awaited second part of season two. Norwegian fantasy drama Ragnarok also returns with its third season.
Who Is Erin Carter?, the Spanish limited series, promises to keep you on the edge of your seat with its action-packed suspense. Lastly, August 25th introduces two Netflix Originals: Killer Book Club (2023), which brings together murder mystery and bookish camaraderie, while You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah (2023) navigates the journey of adolescence through humour. Even though it’s an Adam Sandler production, we hope it has few (or none actually) scat and pee jokes in the mix.
