Every celebrity cameo in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’
Happy Gilmore 2 was always supposed to be a cinematic trigger of nostalgia. But if the audience thought Adam Sandler was the only celebrity duck in the row, they’re mistaken. The Netflix film was not short on any aspect, whether in terms of punchy dialogues or unexpected plot twists. Yet, another arena that has left viewers wooed and screaming is with its stunning combination of star power.
Sandler was undoubtedly the star of the show. But he was definitely not the only celebrity face of Happy Gilmore 2. The Netflix film had a familiar face waiting at every wild twist and turn. The movie shows Happy coming out of retirement 30 years after the PGA Tour Championship in order to gather enough money to send his daughter to a ballet academy in Paris.
With Sandler as Happy, many actors reprise their roles from the original film, including Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Dennis Dugan, Ben Stiller, and Kevin Nealon. Happy Gilmore 2 sees Benny Safdie as Maxi Golf founder Frank Manatee, Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end and Taylor Swift’s beau, Travis Kelce, as a short-tempered waiter, and Bad Bunny as Happy’s new caddy, Oscar.
But Happy Gilmore 2 has 60 A-list cameos, including a homage to Sandler’s Grown Ups co-star Cameron Boyce. So, if you still have a few boxes left to check, Happy Gilmore 2 is streaming on Netflix.
A guide to Happy Gilmore 2 cameos
The Sandler club
Happy Gilmore 2 didn’t just bank on any father-daughter duo. The film had the actual Sandler family slipping into the roles they play in real life, with Sunny Sandler portraying Vienna, Happy’s daughter. And remember the ballet teacher who suggested Happy send Vienna to a Paris school in the first place? That’s Adam Sandler’s wife, Jackie, who plays Monica.
His older daughter, Sadie Sandler, also appears in Happy Gilmore 2 as an undercover FBI agent from Happy’s “Healing Alkies for Life” group. But it turns into a full-blown family affair with Sandler’s mom, Judith, chipping in as Drago Larson’s mother.
Golfing pros
Happy Gilmore 2 ensured golf experts were on the field, too! Stars like Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, and Scottie Scheffler swung the golf with Happy in the US Bank Tour Championship alongside Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, Will Zalatoris, and Bubba Watson before joining forces with him for the Maxi Golf league.
During the Tour Champions dinner, retired legends Fred Couples, Nick Faldo, Jack Nicklaus, Corey Pavin, and Lee Trevino appeared in the golf film. Alongside them were also contemporary golf players Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele, Keegan Bradley, and Colin Morikawa.
John Daly portrays himself in Happy Gilmore 2. But instead of appearing on the fields, he is seen indoors with the Gilmore family. Surprisingly, Koepka’s wife, Jena Sims, also has a brief cameo. And fans can spot female golf legends, Nelly Korda and Nancy Lopez, as doctors at Westford State Mental Hospital.
Sneak-peeks from Tinseltown
Happy Gilmore 2 is packed with star-studded cameos. When Happy returns to golfing, he has to team up with three amateurs in a round at a municipal course. The three actors are Eric Andre, Martin Herlihy and Margaret Qualley. Kelsey Plum and Andrew Watt star as the municipal starters. But golf and WNBA are not the only sports the sequel borrows from.
Professional wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman portrays Gordie, Happy’s eldest son, while basketball star Boban Marjanovic plays Drago Larson. Philip Schneider, Ethan Cutkosky and Connor Sherry portray Bobby, Wayne, and Terry, Happy’s three other sons, respectively. But Herlihy is not the only SNL alum in the Netflix film; Nealson returns as a fellow golfer. Even Dennis Dugan returns to Happy Gilmore 2. But this time, he trades the directorial role to play Doug Thompson.
Haley Joel Osment plays a rival golfer, while the Maxi Golf team is made up of Rebecca Quin, Nikki Bella, Fernando Marrero, Reggie Bush, and Oliver Hudson. Comedians Tom Herlihy, Marcello Hernandez, Steve Buscemi, Robert Smigel, and Lavell Crawford join the film, ensuring it’s no less than a comedy club of its own. And by far, the most hilarious cameo was played by Eminem, who appears as Donald Jr.
Celebrity appearances
When we say Happy Gilmore 2 was cameo-heavy, we truly mean it. Food Network icon Guy Fieri appears as the starter for the Maxi Tour Championship. Meanwhile, Jon Lovitz appears as a fellow golfer at the practice range. Like Daly, Alix Earle, Chris Berman, Treasure Wilson, Bobby Lee, Andrew Santino, Ken Jennings, Sean Evans, Jim Grey, and Verne Lundquist appear as themselves.
For fans who thought Happy Gilmore 2 only had Eminem and Bad Bunny joining the roster from the musical arena, check out Post Malone and Kid Cudi, who play DJ Omar Gosh and an FBI agent, respectively. Simultaneously, Jack Giarraputo plays a sportscaster during the Tour Championship as Jack Beard.
Lastly, Paige Spiranac, Dan Patrick, Kym Whitley, Blake Clarke, Rob Schneider, and Ed Kelce wrap up the cameo list for Happy Gilmore 2.
