Creators of ‘Rick and Morty’ set to bring new series to Netflix
Animation is not just a kid’s domain, and a series that proves this is Rick and Morty. The adult animated series is a popular favourite with its quirky humour and absurd characters. It is an escapist dream that was first released in 2013. Soon, it skyrocketed to become one of the most impactful animated series.
Many of the people who worked on Rick and Morty went on to work on other major shows. Some are even creating their own productions. Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan, who were the creators and showrunners, respectively, went on to co-create Solar Opposites.
McMahan also made Star Trek: Lower Decks. The writer Michael Waldron went on to work on many Marvel productions such as Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars.
To add to this lineup, a new Netflix animated series, Haunted Hotel, will be made straight from the minds behind the beloved show. Matt Roller, who has written for the series previously along with Speechless, Community, Archer and many more, will be the creator, showrunner and executive producer. Others joining him as executive producers are Chris McKenna, Dan Harmon, and Steve Levy.
The animation studio Titmouse will be working on the series. From the studio’s side, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina will be the executive producers. Roller has expressed his excitement regarding the series and the collaboration.
It will be starring Will Forte, known for The Last Man on Earth, Eliza Coupe, popular for Happy Endings, Skyler Gisondo, featured in The Righteous Gemstones, Natalie Palamides, who worked in The Powerpuff Girls, and Jimmi Simpson, known for Dark Matter.
Netflix will release Haunted Hotel worldwide on September 19th. The streaming giant has described the story of the series to revolve around a single mother of two who runs a haunted hotel. In an interesting twist, one of the ghosts haunting it is her estranged brother.
