Creators hopeful that ‘A Man On The Inside’ will get a second season
Mike Schur’s new comedy A Man On The Inside seems set for a second series as fans of Netflix’ latest release are already hooked. With season one only premiering on November 21st, 2024, people are already invested in the detective comedy with the creators hoping that means more episodes can come soon.
A Man On The Inside follows Charles Nieuwendyk, played by Ted Danson, a widower and retired professor who takes a job as an investigative assistant for a private detective. He goes undercover at Pacific View, a retirement home, to find a missing necklace. Across season one’s eight episodes, the protagonist, Charles, gets up to all kinds of antics as he embeds himself within the retirement community.
However, at the end of episode eight, it’s clear that the show is set up for more as the insider spy is set for more adventures. Mike Schur has assured fans that is purposeful as the new hit show is locked in for more seasons to come.
As the creator behind other majorly successful, long-running comedy shows like The Office, Parks and Rec, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place, Schur is hoping that A Man On The Inside will have the same enduring success, hoping for a similar multi-season run on Netflix.
He said to Deadline, “We’re sort of in a fingers crossed, we’ll that bridge when we come to it, kind of a deal.” However, it’s clear that he certainly has the ideas necessary for a longer run, adding, “But I will say that there is no shortage of ideas from me and from other writers about what we might do in a future season. Fingers crossed, we’ll see.”
As far as the statistics go, it seems hopeful that the show will return. The series instantly debuted at number one in the Netflix charts and has received positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike with a 96% review rating. Starring Always Sunny In Philedelphia’s Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Stephanie Beatriz alongside Danson, who was in The Good Place, it’s packed full of proven comedy stars who know how to carry short, sharp 30-minute laughs like this, so there is no doubt that the cast could cope with an extension.
With Schur’s track record of creating comedy gold, he’s a trusted name that Netflix will surely greenlight for more, making the future look hopeful for fans of the new series already begging for more.
