‘Colors of Evil: Black’ ending explained: Who kidnapped Piotrus?

After two long years of anticipation, Netflix finally released the long-awaited second entry of the Colors of the Evil franchise, based on Malgorzata Oliwia Sobczak’s acclaimed trilogy, titled Colors of Evil: Black, and all we can say at the moment is that it doesn’t get any darker than this.

The gritty Polish crime thriller sees the return of prosecutor Leopold Bilski, albeit in a new setting, as he’s transferred to a religious Kashubian town following a clerical error. His arrival collides with the sudden vanishing of a young boy named Piotrus, forcing Bilski to investigate and push back against a dangerous generational conspiracy blanketed under decades of silence.

Directed by Adrian Panek, Colors of Evil: Black takes place in a town where secrets run deep, and silences run even deeper. But Bilski leaves no stone unturned in exposing those long-buried skeletons as they all entwine with the present disappearance in question. Throughout the Netflix thriller, the residents remain tight-lipped, concealing decades of crimes against children in the church, highlighting the complete lack of accountability and remorse, even in the parents.

Although the silence doesn’t stop Bilski from unmasking the person behind the ordeal, Chojnacki, the local meat plant owner, he didn’t kidnap Piotrus. He did pay off Adam’s family when he went missing a few years ago, and was a part of the church when the assaults took place. However, he has long been dead. So, neither was it Chojnacki, nor his son, Marek. Then, who kidnapped Piotrus?

Who abducted Piotrus in Colors of Evil: Black?

After coming to the conclusion that neither Chojnacki man could have possibly abducted Piotrus in Colors of Evil: Black, Bilski starts retracing the case, going right back to the start, to the location from where the boy was abducted. It ultimately dawns upon him that the organiser of the fair is the very man who kidnapped Piotrus, who, upon joining the dots, is revealed to be Nicki, Chojnacki’s illegitimate son.

As is revealed in the Netflix adaptation, Nicky is an extremely disturbed man, whom Chojnacki had fathered with a 14-year-old choir singer. Struggling with a severe mental crisis after years of enduring abuse at the hands of his father, his final straw of sanity vanished after watching his mother die right in front of him.

It is further unveiled that, in addition to Adamczyk, Andrzej Pakosz was also involved in the cover-up. Despite knowing about what they did to his son, he chose to remain silent. While the cycle of abuse is unbelievable, Colors of Evil: Black proves that it’s not unbreakable, as everyone guilty is sent behind bars.

As for the rest of the plot twists waiting inside? We recommend tuning into Colors of Evil: Black, now streaming on Netflix.
