‘Cobra Kai’ is back in production for its sixth and final season

Production for the sixth season of Netflix‘s hit show Cobra Kai has officially begun.

The series originally aired on YouTube Premium in 2018, with its second season also appearing on the online platform. However, season three onwards has debuted on Netflix, becoming one of the streamers’ most successful shows.

Fans can now get excited for a sixth season, although it will also be the final instalment in the series. Writing was previously delayed due to the writers’ strikes that dominated much of last year.

Cobra Kai follows on from The Karate Kid and its subsequent sequels. John G. Avildsen’s 1984 film starred Ralph Macchio as the titular character, who reprises his role in the Netflix series.

A statement about the final season was released by the writers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, “The upcoming season six will mark the conclusion of Cobra Kai. While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger.”

They added, “This fandom is the BEST on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies.”
