‘Bridgerton’ star allegedly in talks to return to season three

Bridgerton showrunners are apparently in talks with Rege-Jean Page about the upcoming season three where the former Duke of Hastings might make a return.

Produced by Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland and created by Chris Van Dusen, the series is based on Julia Quinn’s eponymous novel series that revolves around the various romantic pursuits of the eight Bridgerton siblings.

The first season chronicled the torrid affair between Daphne, the eldest Bridgerton daughter, played by Phoebe Dynevor, with Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings, portrayed by Page.

The second season went on to focus on the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony’s love-hate relationship with the fiery Kate Sharma.

Page was always very vocal about his decision to quit the show to focus on more projects following the end of season one. The actor had also opened up about the hate and backlash he received when he was cast as the Duke. “I’m going to shout out [the book’s] Brazilian fans specifically because they had my back before anyone else did,” he revealed.

He added, “When everyone else was still passive-aggressively getting all knotted up because I didn’t have blue eyes, the Brazilians were there for me.”

While Rhimes talked in the past about how it “doesn’t make sense” to have Page “stand in the background of somebody else’s romance”, it seems like the actor is looking forward to starring in the third season. While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, fans are already pretty excited to see the Duke return.

Page, meanwhile, is having a pretty exciting year as he will soon be seen in the Russo brothers’ $200 million Netflix Original espionage action thriller, The Gray Man, alongside Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas and others.

Bridgerton season three will focus on the evolution of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s friendship into a romantic relationship. Stay tuned for more updates.
