Netflix signs up four new names to Bridgerton after Regé-Jean Page exit

Netflix has announced the news of four new characters for the wildly successful series Bridgerton. They will be joining the cast for the second season following the announcement of Regé-Jean Page’s departure.

The second season of Bridgerton will reportedly focus on Anthony. His character is the oldest of the Bridgerton family. The season is based on the second book in Julia Quinn’s series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. “We have a bunch of new characters we are going to be introducing,” creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen said in January about the new series.

“Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think it’s going to be as sweeping and moving and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show.”

Now the official Bridgerton Twitter account shared the news in the voice of the show’s narrator, Lady Whistledown. “Dear Readers, it seems we have a few new faces in the Ton,” it said. “Do try your best to welcome them generously. I know I certainly will…”

The streaming service previously confirmed that Sex Education‘s Simone Ashley would be taking part in the new season. She will reportedly star opposite Jonathan Bailey’s Anthony Bridgerton character as his love interest, Kate Sharma, who, according to Deadline, “is a smart, independent woman who is new to the ton and its many social events (and expectations). For Anthony, winning Kate over won’t be an easy task.”

The post revealed that actors Charithra Chandran, Shelley Conn, Calam Lynch and Rupert Young will appear in the forthcoming second season. Chandran will play Edwina Sharma, Kate’s younger sister, and Conn will play Mary Sharma, Kate’s mother.
