‘Better Call Saul’ series six promises “emotional violence”

Having been delayed by multiple factors due to Covid-19 complications as well as the shocking heart attack that lead actor Bob Odenkirk suffered on set, Better Call Saul is almost ready to premiere its sixth and final season. 

Now reaching the summit of its potential, many claim that the Breaking Bad spin-off show overshadows the quality of the original series thanks to Better Call Saul’s narrative longevity, with anticipation greatly building for the final season’s release. 

In some early marketing for the new series executive producer Thomas Schnauz has revealed a few thematic details, telling Den of Geek, “There will be more physical and emotional violence in season six”. With the next series of the show being the very last, we can be sure that this violence will reach its absolute pinnacle, as Schnauz also addressed the fate of the show’s antagonist, Lalo Salamanca. “I can’t say if Lalo’s role will be bigger or smaller in season six, but he was certainly pissed off and a man on a mission in the season five finale,” Schnauz reported. 

After suffering from a heart attack on the set of the programme in July, Bob Odenkirk recently tweeted, “Thank you. To my family and friends who have surrounded me this week. And for the outpouring of love from everyone who expressed concern and care for me…I’m going to take a beat to recover but I’ll be back soon”. As a result, work on the final series of Better Call Saul has temporarily halted.

Words of well-wishes flooded in from across Hollywood and the wider world on Twitter, including from significant industry names Judd Apatow, Ron Funches and Bryan Cranston, with the former Breaking Bad co-star stating on Instagram, “Please take a moment in your day today to think about him and send positive thoughts and prayers his way, thank you”.
