‘Beauty in Black’ season three, ending explained: Do Kimmie and Mallory survive the shootout?

The Bellarie family saga just took its darkest turn yet in the third season of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black, which is no longer the final chapter of the Netflix drama and clearly why.

Despite original plans to conclude the explosive family drama with three instalments, Beauty in Black scored a surprise early renewal for a fourth season in July. And after witnessing the shocking events taking centre stage, it is clearer than ever that the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished.

The third season opens with some of the family’s biggest rivals in prison – Roy, Olivia, and ex-Bellarie head of security, Jules. However, prison bars are probably the last thing to hold them down. While Norman is taking the high road, seeking his connections to free himself from the legal claws, Jules, driven by the fire to exact revenge for his son Glen’s death, escapes prison.

As for Kimmie, she’s busy warming her seat in the family business as a force to be reckoned with, while Mallory shows she’s ready to risk it all. However, as the pent-up resentments between Horace and Norman culminate in a bloody confrontation, before you can process what just happened, Jules orchestrates a devastating attack on Make It Rain, manipulating Gina’s criminal network. While nearly all major characters are found on the edge of the cliff, what lies in Kimmie and Mallory’s fates?

Do Kimmie and Mallory make it out in Beauty in Black season 3?

Jules goes completely reckless in Beauty in Black, although the seeds of the eruptive violence were sown throughout. As is revealed, he used Gina as a smokescreen and exploited her criminal connections, meaning whatever goes down in Make It Rain is largely Jules’ doing. He steps into Rain’s club and confesses his actual motive: avenging his son’s death, which also results in another revelation that he has been pulling the strings from behind.

As a result, when Gina gives the signal, the club turns into a battlefield with bullets raining everywhere, endangering even Kimmie and Mallory. The attack is a full-blown announcement and warning that the Bellaries better fear Jules because he’s now armed with something more damaging than arms: inside knowledge of the family’s corruption and Gina’s criminal network.

But despite the bombshell twists and turns, the Netflix show doesn’t reveal Kimmie and Mallory’s fates. Although Kimmie rose through the ranks, securing her position in the Bellarie empire, she simultaneously did everything to ensure a target on her back. While her strategic alliance with Mallory was unexpected, it is one of the only things that remains until the season finale.

Whether that’s enough to save the duo from a shower of bloody bullets is difficult to predict. However, Taylor Polidore Williams, who plays Kimmie, says, “They are both trapped in this web of what the Bellarie family is, and they both want to maintain the power and the life that they have. I would really like to see Kimmie and Mallory’s relationship deepen. I’d like to see them grow and work together to fix the mess.”

Although it would be quite a shock if they actually die, fans ultimately have to hold their horses to find out what awaits Kimmie and Mallory until the next chapter arrives.
