Tyler Perry’s ‘Beauty in Black’ is confirmed to return with a fourth season
Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black just snagged an early season four renewal ahead of its season three premiere, despite earlier reports from Netflix in December verifying that the show will conclude with a third and final season.
By the looks of it, Netflix and Perry seem to have both had a change of heart, which is honestly welcome news for fans who thought that the end was near.
The streaming mogul greenlit Beauty in Black following a super successful two-part second season, which spent six weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10 and made it to the top in 17 countries.
The American drama series, created, directed, written, and executive produced by Perry, follows Kimmie, who struggles to survive after being kicked out by her mother and Mallory, a successful businesswoman running a haircare empire, as their increasingly different lives collide with the filthy rich, dysfunctional Bellarie family and an underground human trafficking ring.
The second season of Beauty in Black follows Kimmie as she marries Horace, taking over as the COO of the family empire and eventually finding an unlikely ally in Mallory. The instalment culminates with the trio joining forces to push the rest of the Bellarie family out of the business for good.
In the upcoming third season, it remains to be seen whether the uneasy alliance lasts as the trio navigate an unapologetic web of blackmail, revenge, and buried secrets amidst a raging, deadly family dispute threatening to bring the entire kingdom down.
Taylor Polidore Williams, who plays Kimmie and Crystle Stewart, who portrays Mallory, will be back in season three alongside Amber Reign Smith, Xavier Smalls, Ricco Ross, Julian Horton, Steven G Norfleet, Richard Lawson, Terrell Carter, Bryan Tanaka, Charles Malik Whitefield, and Debbi Morgan.
While Netflix has yet to reveal a release window for Beauty in Black season three, Perry recently addressed the fourth season renewal in a conversation with Tudum.
“Beauty in Black is back for season four, and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished. There was so much more I wanted to explore, and I’m grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes are on the way!”
