Asa Butterfield is ready for his Netflix comeback with a gritty psychological thriller, ‘Unchosen’
Sex Education star Asa Butterfield is officially set for his Netflix comeback with an intense psychological thriller, Unchosen, from Intergalactic writer and creator Julie Gearey. But the question looming is: are you ready, too?
The forthcoming six-episode series will transport viewers behind the closed doors of a fictional conservative religious sector. However, Butterfield is not the only starry appearance Netflix has confirmed.
Leading Unchosen alongside Butterfield is Molly Windsor, who portrays a dedicated wife and mother who sets out on a dangerous odyssey of female emancipation and sexual awakening after stumbling across an escaped convict.
While it’s easy to feel lost due to the lack of context, if any of it sparks curiosity, to know more about Unchosen, here’s an overview of all you can expect from the upcoming series on Netflix.
What is the plot?
Unchosen, the forthcoming psychological thriller on Netflix, tells the story of Rosie, portrayed by Molly Windsor, an inhabitant of a conservative Christian community, married to Adam, with whom she shares a daughter. With the fateful arrival of escaped convict, enigmatic Sam, Rosie’s reality and restraints are thrown into relief as she realises that her religious community may not hold her best interests at heart.
Soon, the repercussions surface in Rosie and Adam’s marriage, and Sam becomes her saviour. But given his checkered past, the lines of real danger get really blurry as she struggles to choose between the cult and Sam.
Who is in the cast and crew?
Molly Windsor portrays Rosie in the thriller series, while Asa Butterfield plays Adam, her on-screen husband. Fra Fee as Sam, Siobhan Finneran as Mrs Phillips and Christopher Eccleston as Mr Phillips round out the cast announced so far. Julie Geary is the writer, creator, and executive producer of Unchosen. Iona Vrolyk and Myar Craig-Brown are executive producing for Double Dutch Productions, with Nick Pitt serving as a producer. The series will be directed by A Discovery of Witches’ Phillippa Langdale and Criminal Record’s Jim Loach.
