Anna Sorokin complains that Netflix failed to capture her likeness in ‘Inventing Anna’

While under house arrest, convicted scammer Anna Sorokin who became the subject of the Netflix series Inventing Anna, claimed that the series failed to capture her accent. Others quickly commented that she might have bigger problems to deal with.

However, she is not alone in questioning her portrayal in Inventing Anna. Rachel DeLoache Williams of Vanity Fair has even filed a defamation lawsuit against it, somewhat ironically, for depicting her as “greedy” and “snobbish”.

The series comes with the following synopsis: “A journalist with a lot to prove investigates the case of Anna Delvey, the Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene – and stole their money as well.”

While speaking about Julia Garner’s performance in the series, Sorokin told CNN: “I don’t think I sound like it. She got me from the time before.” Sorokin claimed this was one of many examples of art imitating life in the show.

She said about how she defrauded various institutions out of $2.75 million: “I feel so sorry for a lot of the choices I’ve made. I also feel like I’ve learned so much and grew as a person.”
