‘A Man on the Inside’ soundtrack: List of songs in the Netflix series
‘A Man on the Inside’ recently premiered on Netflix and is receiving acclaim from both fans and critics alike. The show’s creator, Michael Schur, has a good track record of creating engaging and heartwarming sitcoms, and it seems this series is no different.
The comedy, starring Ted Danson (The Good Place), sees a lonely retired widower, Charles, try to find his place in a world that has seemingly forgotten about him. Wasting away, he decides it would be a good idea to try and help a private investigator in a bid to try and give his life a bit more meaning.
His task is to infiltrate a retirement home in a bid to discover the identity of a thief. When he eventually goes into the retirement home, he discovers a lot more than just a love for his new job. Thanks to the friendly people who live there, Charles has a heartwarming experience as he receives companionship from them.
Danson is gold in the new series and the heartwarming nature of the show is very much in the wheelhouse of Schur. Similar to his work with Parks and Recreation and The Good Place, Schur manages to take a very human emotion – in this case, loneliness – and turn it into something equal parts entertaining and heartwarming.
What is unusual for Schur’s regular comedy stylings, however, is the excellent soundtrack that runs alongside the series. It must have been easier to gain the rights to popular songs when making this series, and Schur has taken full advantage, as A Man on the Inside comes packed with a killer soundtrack.
The soundtrack features a number of classics, such as tracks by Cat Stevens with ‘The Wind’ and Perry Como’s ‘Some Enchanting Evening’. Plenty of modern songs also feature on the soundtrack, including ‘Worship You’ by Vampire Weekend. The songs aren’t only fun to listen to, but they complement the series perfectly, running alongside the theme and tone of an episode wonderfully.
The soundtrack is used as it should be, an extension of what is happening in the series. If you would like to listen to some of the excellent songs which make up the soundtrack for A Man on the Inside, you can see them all below.
