Prince Harry is planning to get his Netflix documentary delayed again

Prince Harry has come under fire after claims that he is trying to get his fly-on-the-wall documentary – which has itself had its fair share of controversy – delayed. Reportedly, he wants the series pushed back to January so that it will be released at the same time as his forthcoming memoir.

The Royal struck up an £88 million deal with Netflix and has been working on the show that will closely examine his life behind the scenes. Netflix themselves are said to have buckled under the Duke of Sussex’s initial proposal of moving the series back to December after they had been criticised over the fictional elements of the fifth season of The Crown.

Now, it appears that the Duke has attempted to get the show pushed back even further in line with the release of his forthcoming memoir Spare – set to come out some time after January 10th. Harry had asked the publishers of the memoir to also delay, as he had needed to make some edits.

A source close to the family insisted that Harry did not want the series coming out before Christmas as he had been particularly regretful over it, including specific details surrounding his relationships with King Charles, Camilla and both the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Harry is perhaps having second thoughts about the series coming out at all, seeing as the past few years of his life have been marred by controversy, particularly in the public eye. A Netflix source recently said, “Harry and Meghan are panicked about trying to tone down even the most basic language. But it’s their story, from their own mouths. They’ve made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided.”

Arguably the Queen’s death may have also played its part in Harry’s second thoughts about the series, but we will keep you up to date on any further news regarding its release.
