You will know from the countless pumpkins that litter the streets of the Northern hemisphere that it is approaching Halloween and fast. However, if you were looking for another indication that spooky season had firmly arrived, then you needn’t look any further than this week’s most popular TV shows on Netflix.
Another Ryan Murphy project, the new Naomi Watts-led series The Watcher, which accrued 148 million hours of viewing in its second week — pushing it up to 275 million in total — currently leads the chart. It’s the perfect slow-burning creepy affair is f you’re looking to keep the scares going all week long.
Based on a true story, the official synopsis for the show reads:” It follows the true story of a married couple who, after moving into their dream home in Westfield, New Jersey, are harassed by letters signed by a stalker named The Watcher.” It’s the perfect viewing if you like your series’ chilled to the bone.
The rest of the list this week is equally creepy. There is a spot for 28 Days haunted, accruing 13 million hours of viewing in its first week out, as well as The Midnight Club and season four of The Sinner, which both offer some genuine dread and terror. However, the scariest aspects of TV are in reality, and Ryan Murphy’s DAHMER continues to gather audiences.
After another 70 million hours of viewing for the masterpiece of scary storytelling, Murphy may well have confirmed himself as a horror icon with his recent output for Netflix. But if being scared isn’t your thing, there are still some notable entries on this list.
As well as season three of Love Is Blind, which will restore your hope in humanity, there is also the limited series From Scratch for which the official synopsis reads: “The TV adaptation follows Amy (Zoe Saldaña), a budding artist, and Lino (Eugenio Mastrandrea), who dreams of being a chef, as they meet in Florence while Amy’s studying abroad, fall in love, build a life in Los Angeles, and face a devastating tragedy together.”
