10 most popular films on Netflix this week: June 2022

Netflix has been in a tough spot over the last financial quarter. After n incredibly successful 2021, the streamer, however, began losing a huge number of subscribers this year along with falling stock prices. Despite dealing with a general disdain towards its quality of content, the streamer has been adding new titles to its shelves in June 2022, many of which have become quite popular.

Every week, we bring you the ten most popular films on Netflix across the world at Best of Netflix.

Directed by Patrick Hughes, the $75 million action film, starring Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart among others, has topped the charts upon its release last week. It has been viewed for nearly 54 million hours. The film deals with a classic case of mistaken identities and is filled with heart, humour and action. Despite its abysmal ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, the film seems to have struck a chord with Netflix viewers.

Directed by Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, Chris Hemsworth’s recent and fascinating stint as a mad scientist in Netflix’s Spiderhead has been viewed for nearly 38 million hours. Also starring Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett, BeBe Bettencourt and Tess Habruich among others, the film sees Hemsworth in a totally different avatar from Thor and Extraction.

Jeremiah Zaga’s sports drama Hustle has made it onto the list for the third time in a row with a viewership of 26 million hours. The film stars Adam Sandler as a jaded basketball scout who goes to Spain in search of the next big NBA talent before encountering a boy with a troubled past. Real-life Utah Jazz player Juancho Herangomez reprises the role and stars in the film alongside Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall and Ben Foster among others.

Upon its release on June 10th, 2022, the computer-animated comedy Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness has garnered a viewership of more than 10 million and has been on the charts for three weeks. Based on Chris Grine’s Chickenhare graphic novel series, the 91-minute film features a juvenile yet delightful premise, where the half-chicken half-hare hero embarks on a series of adventures despite various obstacles lying in his way.
