The 10 best rom-coms on Netflix for Valentine's Day

There are a few days of the year that demand a certain type of movie. Halloween requires a spooky horror flick, Christmas deserves a warm festive favourite, and Valentine’s Day needs a romantic comedy to seal off the lovey-dovey atmosphere. But, if you’re not planning on heading to the cinema after your romantic meal for two, we’ve compiled a list of the ten best rom-coms on Netflix UK.

Providing something for everyone, we’ve tried to condense Netflix’s wide array of romantic offerings, curating a list of the 10 very best romantic comedies on the platform. Including a number of big-budget comedies, horror-romance hybrids and more, for our money, there’s no better film to watch this Valentine’s Day than Richard Curtis’ sweet time travel drama, About Time starring Rachel McAdams, Vanessa Kirby, Margot Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson.

Well-known for its devastating conclusion, Curtis’ film tells the story of a young man who discovers he has the hereditary ability to travel back in time and change the course of his own life. Still, even though being able to alter the world to his liking, this doesn’t make it easier for him to find a girlfriend, bumping into the same familiar stumbling blocks as before whilst he deals with the existential crisis of being able to time travel.

Another film we’d like to suggest is the classic Patrick Swayze rom-com, Dirty Dancing, from 1987. Directed by Emile Ardolino, the film follows a young woman who falls in love with a holiday resort dance instructor against her father’s wishes, causing sparks to fly between her and her family. Known as one of the most romantic movies of all time, Dirty Dancing stars Jennifer Grey and Swayze in their prime.

With eight other top picks to choose from, take note of our list of the ten best rom-coms on Netflix UK below and enjoy your cosy night in.
