'Young Sheldon' proves to be a huge win for Netflix after CBS cancellation

The Big Bang Theory was such a major success for every platform connected with it that there was always likely to be an afterglow effect for the prequel series of its main protagonist, Sheldon Cooper. Young Sheldon didn’t fare quite as well as its parent production, however.

Following the conclusion of its seventh season, the Chuck Lorre production was given the boot by its network CBS. Netflix saw the opportunity at hand and swooped in to pick up the rights.

Since that moment, the show has gone on to be wildly successful for the streaming giant. According to the latest insights from Nielsen, the series has accrued 1.8billion minutes of streaming.

The numbers account for a week at the end of November, which saw overall streaming numbers fall, but Young Sheldon enjoyed a 92 per cent jump in viewing minutes.

While Young Sheldon will not enjoy the success of The Big Bang Theory, it looks set to be a Netflix success for some time to come.
