Xolo Maridueña discusses want for a future 'Cobra Kai' reunion

The lead star of Cobra Kai, Xolo Maridueña, has revealed how he’d love to bring back the cast of the show for a 30-year reunion in the future.

Maridueña stars as Miguel in the TV series follow-up to the Karate Kid movies, with the show following the lives of an older Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) as they reignite their martial arts rivalry. Beloved by a passionate group of fans on Netflix, the series has enjoyed six series overall, with the release of season six in the near future due to be the final one.

Looking back on his role of Miguel in an interview with V Magazine, the actor stated: “It is bittersweet. It definitely is. I mean, I really grew up with everyone on the show. Just as those high school years are important for kids – those same years, I was spending with these guys. So, I just hope that I get to work with them again. I can’t help but feel like the party is ending. Especially with filming this last season, there’s this final tone in the air”.

Joining the show in the very first series when he was just 16 years old, Maridueña stars alongside the likes of Courtney Henggeler, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser and Jacob Bertrand.

Reflecting further on his time on the show, Maridueña later adds: “It’s nice and helpful when constructing a story, that we get to end the show on our own accord. We were so blessed for that. I know that I speak for everyone when I say that. We’re so grateful to have done six seasons, that’s crazy. And I just hope that we get to reunite in 30 years and do, you know, Cobra, Kai v2 or whatever that looks like. I love those guys”.

Season six of Cobra Kai is predicted to drop in late 2024 or 2025, with production being pushed back due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes.
