‘XO, Kitty’: Everything we know about ‘To All The Boys’ spin-off

To All The Boys franchise was a huge hit on Netflix as people gushed over the brilliant chemistry between Lana Condor and Noah Centino as the story’s central couple. Lana as Lara was adorable, witty and a hopeless romantic who finds herself in a sticky situation when the letters she had written to all the boys she ever crushed on, get mailed to the individual recipients by her nosy and sassy little sister, Kitty.

After Lara reached her happy ending with Centino’s Peter Kavinsky, it is time for her younger, bespectacled, smart-talking sister, Kitty to shine. As a brand new spin-off to the franchise, Netflix introduced the ten-episode series called XO, Kitty to chronicle the romantic endeavours of Kitty in this upcoming coming-of-age tale.

Jenny Han and Sascha Rothchild will be working as showrunners. Han, the writer of the To All The Boys franchise, has also co-written the pilot with Siobhan Vivian, a novelist.

While the To All The Boys trilogy has been pretty successful on Netflix, audience members are already pretty excited to witness Kitty’s adventure. Here’s everything we know about XO, Kitty

What is the plot of XO, Kitty?

The show will revolve around Lara’s younger sister, Kitty who has gained enough experience from her sister’s escapades and thinks that she knows enough about love. However, when she moves halfway across the world to meet her long-distance boyfriend, Dae, Kitty’s ideas and perceptions will be put to test as she will begin experiencing the complexities and anxieties that seep into every relationship.

How many episodes will XO, Kitty have?

XO, Kitty will have ten episodes, each of which will be 30 minutes long. The episodes have been directed by Jeff Chan, Jennifer Arnold, Katina Medina Mora and Pamela Romanowsky.

Who has been cast in XO, Kitty?

XO, Kitty will have an extensive cast. Anna Cathcart, who was seen in the To All The Boys franchise, will be reprising her role as Kitty Song Covey. Kitty was a key figure in the previous franchise as she was the one who mailed her older sister, Lara’s (Lana Condor) letters to her crushes, leading to the series of events. Spunky and goofy, Kitty is finally getting her own show to shine through.

Cathcart shared a few cute polaroids from the sets.

The series will feature a lot of new faces and diverse characters. Choi Min-Yeong will be seen as a 17-year-old Korean boy named Dae who is Kitty’s long-distance boyfriend. Mihee will be seen as a queer Korean female while Sang Heon-Lee will play the role of a Korean ex-pat.

Peter Thurnwald, Gia Kim, Jocelyn Shelfo, Michael K. Lee, Regan Aliyah, Anthony Keyvan and Yunjin Kim will also be seen in prominent roles.

Since filming is scheduled to come to an end by June, Netflix might be able to release the show by the end of this year. However, the debut film of the To All The Boys franchise, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before released on Valentine’s Day, which could indicate a February 14th, 2023 release for XO, Kitty as well.
