Will Smith and Michael Bay look set to reunite for new Netflix original
It looks as though Will Smith and Michael Bay are set to reunite for a new movie landing on Netflix. The prospect of seeing the two work together once again is exciting as they originally took the box office by storm with Bad Boys.
The director is currently in negotiations to direct a new movie titled Fast and Loose, which will be released on the streaming giant. Smith will lead the film, seeing the Bad Boys alumni team up once again.
While information is still quite limited, Fast and Loose is the story of a man who wakes up in Tijuana without recollection of how he got there or what he’s supposed to do. While he pieces together his life and works things out, he discovers that he has been living two lives, one as a crime kingpin and another as an undercover CIA agent.
Variety has reported on the film and alleged cast and notes that the script was written by Eric Pearson, Chris Bremner, Jon Hoeber, and Erich Hoeber. Will Smith is also named as a producer on the movie, alongside Kelly McCormick and David Leitch on behalf of 87North. Jon Mone and Ryan Shimazaki are also currently in negotiations to produce the movie on behalf of Westbrook Studios and James Lassiter.
Robert Simonds and Noah Fogelson, on behalf of STXfilms, and Barry Walkman are executive producers working on the movie.
Bay and Smith first collaborated in 1995 on Bad Boys, which was Bay’s directorial debut and set him up as the narrative-driven, explosion-loving director he later cemented himself as. Bad Boys was a huge commercial success, which resulted in the creation of three sequels.
Despite controversy surrounding Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars when he slapped Chris Rock, he has continued to work and star in some exciting pictures. He recently appeared in Apple’s Emancipation and is also set to appear in the sci-fi thriller Resistor.
Bay is also busy at the moment. The director is in talks about bringing the viral internet meme “Skibidi Toilet” to TV and film. He is also working on his first docuseries, Born Evil: The Serial Killer and the Savior.
Despite Smith and Bay’s two hectic schedules, it seems they will be setting time aside to work with one another once again as Fast and Loose is set to begin production and will hopefully land on Netflix in the next couple of years.
