Will Dan Levy’s ‘Big Mistakes’ return for a second season?

Dan Levy returned to showbiz with a crime-comedy drama, Big Mistakes, on Netflix. And as we know, no one brings family chaos to life better than him.

Packed with slapstick comedy, witty humour, well-fleshed out characters, and plot twists you simply won’t see coming, Big Mistakes is already a massive hit on Netflix. While the season finale more or less sets the stage for a follow-up season, is the crime thriller actually coming back for a sequel instalment?

Well, Netflix has yet to renew Big Mistakes for a second season. But keeping in mind how Levy chose to end things in the first instalment, it doesn’t seem unlikely for the show to rope in a continuation.

Unlike a limited series, the first season of Big Mistakes feels like an opening salvo of future storytelling. With the real mastermind unveiled to be Annette, Linda’s best friend and Max’s mother, Nicky and Morgan’s nightmares have only begun. In fact, the season finale leaves quite a few burning questions: will Morgan follow through with her mandated wedding to Max?

Will Nicky leave his post as the community pastor? How will Annette’s role in the drug syndicate affect Nicky and Morgan? And most importantly, after Linda’s mayoral win, how would the siblings settle on getting linked with a family whose criminal roots are so deep down? Well, questions are one too many, and the solution is probably a season two renewal update from Netflix.

But until that happens, TV Insider decided to catch up with Levy on the red-carpet premiere, asking whether he intends to take Big Mistakes on a longer ride on Netflix. Upon being asked whether he has season two plans mapped out already, Levy said, “Oh, I know exactly what I want to see in the second season of the show. A lot of the show is written in my head at this point.”

“All I know is that if we are given the opportunity to tell a second season, it’s going to be bigger and better, and I can’t wait to get back to the writer’s room because we have a big old story to tell,” he continued.

While that’s quite a promising tease to begin with, only time will tell what’s actually in store for the crime-comedy’s future. Then again, considering the rave reviews and glittering ratings online, we cannot help but hope that good news is on the way.

But in case you’re yet to tune into Big Mistakes, do it now before the spoiler gets too heavy on the shoulders!
