Netflix has taken an oath to make 2026 a rollercoaster ride for viewers worldwide, and now Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is here to back up the mission with a new dance-based comedy movie, Best of the Best.
Arriving this fall, Best of the Best celebrates the brilliance of Bollywood fusion dance against a poignant young adulthood storyline that underscores the true power of friendship.
Lena Khan, who directed the first four episodes of Never Have I Ever, will direct the movie, from a script co-written by Minhaj and Prashanth Venkataramanujam. While the duo produces for 186K Film, Jonathan Eirich produces for Rideback, with Ryan Harpin executive producing.

What is the plot?
Best of the Best, the upcoming dance-based comedy, highlights the phenomenon of the coming together of the South Asian community and culture through dance groups on college campuses, telling the story of two childhood best friends, Maya and Anjali, who join the highly competitive Bollywood dance team in their college, only to realise that moving mountains wouldn’t still be enough to win the national championship.
Who is in the cast?
Netflix has gathered an ensemble cast for Best of the Best, led by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Maya and Priyanka Kedia as Anjali. Hasan Minhaj, Chaneil Kular, Ankur Rathee, Shreya Navile, Becky Alex, Nihar Duvvuri, Nico Greetham, Amryn Khurana, Tanishq Joshi, Lilly Singh, Sasha Bhasin, Janina Gavankar, and Saara Chaudry round out the cast for now.
