Why you should be excited about the Netflix K-drama, ‘Outback’

Netflix is expanding its South Korean slate of original productions with a brand new thriller adaptation, Outback, and if you’re a fan of the genre, you’re most probably going to be seated for this one.

Directed by Jeon Doo Kwan, Outback adapts acclaimed author and artist Choi Yong Sung’s gripping thriller webtoon G’Day, which follows Shion on his travels to Australia to find his missing sister.

According to What’s on Netflix, Outback is currently in development at Netflix, and the details are scarce.

What is the plot?

According to the synopsis cited in the webtoon description, Outback tells the story of Shion, who, after losing contact with his sister, Shiyoung, living abroad, arrives in Australia, where she had been residing. Determined to find answers, he decides to stay at the share house where Shiyoung was living, but something keeps telling him that the people around have something to do with her disappearance, and nothing is what it seems.

Who is in the cast?

The only cast member reported so far for the upcoming K-drama is Ryu Jun Yeol, who has previously helmed two Netflix projects, The 8 Show and Revelations. While he’s set to portray the lead in Outback as Shion, he also stars in the upcoming Netflix crime thriller Moustrap.
