Why you should be excited about ‘The Lords’ Day,’ headlined by Damson Idris
From Haley Z Boston’s long-awaited horror mystery series executive produced by the Duffer Brothers to the highly anticipated Norwegian adaptation of Jo Nesbø’s Harry Hole novels, Netflix churned out a mighty slate of page-turners this week. While fans barely had the time to digest all that, now Netflix is back with a major expansion of its thriller catalogue with The Lords’ Day starring Damson Idris.
With the House of the Lords on lockdown and the threat lurking inside the four walls, The Lords’ Day kicks off with a nightmare-esque scenario to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
The new six-episode series on Netflix comes from Bad Wolf, creators of Human, and the author of House of Cards, Michael Dobbs. The Lords’ Day is based on Dobbs’ novel, from which House of Cards is adapted.
Dobbs is himself a member of the House of Lords. As a result, the upcoming series promises to take viewers on a rollercoaster ride through England’s power play. So, if that makes you curious, here’s a rundown of what to expect from The Lords’ Day.
What is the plot?
The fast-paced action thriller, set in the heart of the British power structure, stars Damson Idris as British spy Harry Jones. According to Netflix, The Lords’ Day opens at a time of crisis when, on the State Opening of Parliament, Harry finds himself stuck inside the Palace of Westminster due to a lockdown. With the entire government of the United Kingdom held hostage, the Parliament is officially an enemy territory.
As tensions escalate, loyalties are put to the test, and sacrifices are inevitable, considering not everyone can make it out alive. While only time will tell whether Harry can use his sleuthing skills to save the country, the fact that he’s also a convicted traitor doesn’t make his case any easier. So, indeed, the stakes are higher than ever, and it’s up to Harry to turn the tables around.
Who is in the crew and cast?
Directed by Ben Chanan, best known for The Capture and The Missing, from a script written by Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent, The Lords’ Day is executive-produced by Jane Tranter and Dan McCulloch of Bad Wolf, the production company behind Industry and His Dark Materials.
Although it is confirmed that the F1 star will portray the famed antihero Harry Jones, the rest of the cast details remain under wraps. However, since the cat is finally out of the bag, it shouldn’t be long before Netflix pulls back the curtain on the remaining ensemble.
