Why you should be excited about ‘ONE PIECE: The Battle of Alabasta’
The Straw Hats are confirmed to set sail to Alabasta in the third season of the acclaimed live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s ONE PIECE, which was renewed as early as August 2025. And now that viewers are finally done with the Grand Line arc, Netflix has finally got the cameras rolling for The Battle of Alabasta.
Alabasta is a desert kingdom, incredibly culturally rich and famous for its fascinating architecture. But contrary to the breathtaking setting, in this arc, Luffy and his crew must race against time to help Princess Vivi save her homeland, which is on the verge of civil war.
“For many ONE PIECE fans, Alabasta is the arc that hooked them as nakama for life, combining [ONE PIECE manga creator Eiichiro Oda] Oda-san’s’ incredible talent for world-building and memorable characters in a story that’s thematically rich, emotionally gripping, and visually spectacular,” said season three showrunners, writers, and executive producers Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes to Tudum.
While production is already underway in Cape Town, Africa, for additional details on ONE PIECE: The Battle of Alabasta, here’s a rundown of everything known so far.

In the ending moments of ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line, Luffy and his crew agree to help Princess Vivi, soon finding themselves on the frontlines of a war brewing in the desert kingdom of Alabasta, her embattled homeland. In The Battle of Alabasta, a revolt is secretly taking shape at the heart of the story, with the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the brutal Sir Crocodile, and his underground syndicate Baroque Works eyeing to take over Alabasta for themselves.
With the nation facing one of the greatest threats ever known, the Straw Hats would be forced to make impossible choices to save the kingdom before it’s too late. The stakes are higher than ever, and the foes? Mightier than you can think.
